Creative Tips for Using the Fern & Flora Bundle

When working with botanical stamps and dies, I love experimenting with different colour palettes. Soft greens create a calming and elegant look, while brighter colours can give your projects a fresh and modern feel.

The dies also add beautiful dimension to your cards and work wonderfully layered over designer series paper, embossing folders and blended backgrounds.

Grungy Gears & Textures – Card 3

On my Facebook live recently I wanted to include the dies from the Gears & Textures Bundle and so I created these Grungy Gears & Textures cards. I had so much fun creating these cards. The second card I’m sharing was just created on the fly without any real idea in mind except to use the die cuts I had pre-prepared.

How I created the card

I pulled out my blending brushes, some Nature Walk designer series paper and got to work on creating the card below. Roughing up the edges of the DSP and adding some ink. Sometimes I do things a bit backwards and I certainly did that on this card and glued the DSP onto the left side of the vanilla card before I started stamping. I started stamping the images and didn’t worry if it went over the dsp as well. I just kept going. Adding on the die cuts and also stamping the sentiment onto another piece of DSP and roughing that up as well plus of course adding some ink.

Once I finished stamping the background, adding the die cuts, I added some linen thread and then the sentiment with dimensionals to pop them up. The Secret Sea card base I added some ink around the edges of it and then glued the card front onto the card base. Stamping a piece of vanilla card for the insert and then I was done.

Gears & Textures – Masculine

Recently on my Facebook Live I created with the Gears & Textures Stamp Set. You can see other cards I created with this set here. I chose to create some simple stamping cards which can be easily duplicated. I had used the inspiration from Crafty Rootes in the UK to create my first card. That was enough of a spring board to get me doing the next card and then the next and so on. It was great to be able to just create and to continue to get the creatively flowing so easily just with copying one card but changing up the colours.

Changing up the colours from the original design that I saw, I created the first card with the long images stamped diagonally on the page alternating the colours. On the insert I stamped the long images again on an angle which helped me jump to the next card. Having the images diagonally from either end and then stamping in the centre changes the card. And on the insert I stamped the images up and down which led me to my third card in this set. I chose to stamp the images from top to bottom on one side with the sentiment stamped at he bottom right of the card. Then layer each card front onto coordinating card stock. Really #simplestamping cards for you to recreate.

Gathering Moments Christmas

Last week I decided to play with the Gathering Moments Stamp set like I did the week before on my Facebook Live. However this time I wanted to create some Christmas cards instead. I decided to do similar to last week creating a 4 Square project. Stamping in the shape of a cross on an A4 Card stock piece and then chopped it down from there. I then started creating with some blues as well.

Festive Words

While I was away at my upline Marelle’s stamp camp, I took along the Festive Words stamp set to have a play with. I finally saw a layout that Marelle had used and thought I’d use the same layout and create with this stamp set. Well lo and behold these cards came out. I created a video last month using the same stamp set and here are the results.

Spotlight on Nature

The Spotlight on Nature Stamp set is a lovely versatile set that I love. When we went to our Stampin’ Up! demonstrator event in March we had the opportunity to attend an optional class and choose from one of 3 bundles. The Spotlight on Nature Bundle is what I chose. The bundle includes the stamp set and a die set. The die set is made up of circles with varying intricacies around the edging of each die all in various sizes.

During my Facebook Live on Friday I created a set of 5 cards. I had an idea of what I was going to do for two of the cards but then the other 3 I was unsure. For two of the cards, I had pulled out an old old card kit that I had made up and used the card base and layers from that card kit.

Using minimal supplies is always great as we don’t always have EVERYTHING in our crafting stash. These cards are quite super simple, however I did use a blending brush on all the cards in some form. If you don’t already have blending brushes in your stash, you really should add them to your wish list as they are fabulous to play with and be creative with.
