Team Blog Hop #16

This months Blog Hop is a layout challenge. I wanted to keep this one simple and let the designer paper shine.
I chose to use the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper (DSP) and then used the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. I love using the DSP to dictate what colours I’ll be using. Whcih is why I chose Pool Party & Petal Pink.

Using the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder just gives the card that little lift that it needs. I chose to use the Peaceful Moments stamp set for the sentiment as you can never have enough cards for friends.

Junk Journal

A couple of weeks ago I saw a video on youtube on how to make a junk journal. I hadn’t heard of them before so I watched a couple of videos. Then I saw a video that used an old Readers Digest book cover to create a junk journal. My Dad had dozens of them when I was growing up and wondered if he still had them. So I called him and asked and he did, however they weren’t the books I had originally thought of, they were older than I remember. In fact the have so much more character than I had remembered.

I created this Journal using old pages from notebooks, some DSP and the book cover from the Readers Digest. I threaded some bakers twine through the sheets of paper to create a book and then added memorabilia to it. These photos of the finished project with out additional items and photos in it.

I am holding a class this week on how to make them. My classes are Friday 28th at 10am and Saturday 29th 10am. If you’d like to join me you can see more details on my facebook page or click on this link.

This is one of the videos that I saw originally which inspired me to create a Junk Journal

Timeless Tropical

The Timeless Tropical stamp set is a gorgeous set that has so many lovely images in the set including the hibiscus flower and the frangipani, not to mention the leaves in the set.
I created 2 of the cards fairly easily using the blog hop I did in January but then changed up the hibiscus colour to match the card base. I did a quick search and found lots of other colours that the flower could be and played with them.

I then went to a come and play day at my team leaders home and came up with the other two cards. I’m happy with the final result of all 4 of the cards.

These 4 cards are the ones we’ll be making in this weeks classes. If you’d like to come along and make these cards with me, then click on this link to see more details.
